I attended a writers and editing breakfast workshop in Toronto, Canada recently.  I'm a retired teacher and a writer and am so interested in organizing a Women and Words Conference in our local area. Actually, before researching names, I liked the name Women of Words, because I can sell the WOW factor!!  But, then I came across your website...and read your info....you have such a friendly and positive way of getting your message out.....you are truly an inspiration to all women.  You have inspired me and I just want to send you many Canadian thanks.  My friends and I are at the beginning of our edeavours but it is women like you who inspire all of us to reach out and create a better world.  Thank you!

As always Women & Words was moving and inspiring. I invariably come away feeling like I belong to a larger collective of amazing women who think, create, write and produce. Who are giving and strong. You of course being a leader in that group. I love looking over at seeing your tears stream only because I recognize that you are a passionate person who thinks and experiences deeply.

My friend Kelly loved it too. She is an executive producer at Random House and even though she's in the NY office now and I don't see her as much, she says she'll keep Women & Words in mind and send me great stuff for it. (for example she produced the Elizabeth Edwards title last year). So a great person to have invited.

I was amazed at the number of attendees. It just keeps growing, even in this dreadful economic moment and that is a tribute to Roz and your hard work and commitment. Well done Sheila. You should be very proud.

Dear Sheila,

Thank you for your sweet email and THANK YOU for orchestrating wonderful Women and Words again. It was another incredibly successful event this past Saturday! The authors were sensational, the lunch was hot & delicious and being with so many dear friends was fantastic. I really appreciate all of your gracious thoughtfulness with respect to my table seating change requests due to last minute cancellations. Hats off to both you and Roz!

Sheila:

Women & Words proved to be once again a profoundly wonderful
experience. I am in awe of the gathering of great writers and women who were gathered there. You have created such a gift, not only for the
children who will benefit from the arts program but for those of us who care about literature and experience and society. I admire that deeply. And you, for having the vision.

Much love and gratitude,

Cassandra

To everyone who attended the Women & Words event:

On behalf of Children's Institute, Inc. (CII), I want to thank you for attending the Women & Words event on September 27th. You went that day to hear and meet important women writers--and what an impressive and inspiring group of writers it was!  But your support of Women & Words also translated directly into support for some of our city's most vulnerable children--those affected by violence in their homes or communities.  Thanks to your help, and the amazing efforts of Sheila Irani and the generosity of those of you who donated and purchase raffle tickets, books and silent auction items at Women & Words, $3,200 dollars was raised that day.  These funds will be used to support CII's visual and performing arts program.  Thanks to you, more young people like Chris, the boy I told you about at the event, will be able to work through their pain, find their own voices, and start down the path of opportunity and achievement.

Thank you again for your help.
   With gratitude,

Nina Revoyr

Dear Sheila,
Thanks you for all of your great planning and organizing efforts with Women & Words. You continue to amaze me. I appreciate all of your excellent communication. I knew it would be a remarkable day.

Dear Sheila,

Thank you, on behalf of the English Department at Immaculate Heart, for finding sponsorship for six of our students to attend Women& Words. This year’s event was phenomenal! It was wonderfully curated, and each speaker had such a unique perspective to share about her writing and her work as a woman. The girls expressed these same sentiments, and they were in awe of the beauty and inspiration they felt as part of the event. Thank you again for securing our spots and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Sincerely,
Abby McCrate
